Home/First-person recording setup

Set up clear first-person task recordings.

A reliable first-person setup keeps your hands and the task visible while you move naturally. Prepare the phone, holder, lighting and recording area before starting an eligible household or workplace activity.

Start with the required equipment

Current project pages identify compatible phone families such as iPhone 12 or newer, Samsung Galaxy S21 or newer, and Google Pixel 6 or newer. Confirm the exact requirement for your project before relying on a device.

Secure the phone in a head-mounted phone holder designed to keep the camera near your natural line of sight. Some projects require contributors to obtain this holder at their own expense, so read the project details before purchasing anything.

Prepare the phone and recording area

Clean the camera lens, charge the battery, confirm storage space, reduce avoidable notifications and test the camera angle. Use even lighting and remove private documents, account details or unrelated people from view.

  • Keep both hands and the active task inside the frame.
  • Make the camera steady without restricting safe movement.
  • Use clear lighting and avoid heavy glare or deep shadow.
  • Record only your own original, eligible activity.
  • Complete a short framing check before a longer session.

Follow the post-application setup in order

After the website confirms that your application was saved, follow the displayed project-specific steps in order. Some opportunities use external tools; others have a separate confirmation flow.

Use the same email when the confirmation requires connected accounts. Never substitute an application, portal, code or upload step copied from another opportunity.

Review quality before uploading

Confirm that the correct task is visible, the recording is steady and well lit, and no private or prohibited content appears. If the phone moved, the task left the frame or permission changed, stop and follow the current correction instructions rather than submitting knowingly unsuitable footage.

Your project page is the controlling standard

Phone support, eligible tasks, setup codes and recording rules can vary by project. Always use the instructions connected to the exact project application you submitted.
