Effective August 18, 2026

At a glance

Applying is free and does not guarantee tasks. The current USA Residential rate is $12 USD per approved video hour for eligible contributors.Read the Privacy Notice

1. Scope and project roles

These terms apply to USA Residential applications submitted through apply.crossinghurdles.com. Crossing Hurdles manages candidate recruitment and support. After a successful submission, applicants use Shift with the USA Residential partner code rather than another project's setup flow.

2. Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Currently reside in the United States and select the accurate state
  • Have a compatible smartphone
  • Have or obtain a compatible phone headband at their own expense
  • Provide accurate information and follow all household recording, safety, privacy, and quality requirements

3. Application and onboarding

There are no application or recruitment fees. Participants are responsible for obtaining any required phone headband; the project does not provide, deliver, or reimburse it. Submitting an application does not guarantee selection, task availability, a minimum number of hours, approval, payment, or continued participation.

4. Compensation

The current rate is $12 USD per approved video hour. Payment applies only to video time that meets the project requirements and is approved. Rejected, pending, ineligible, or otherwise unapproved time is not approved video time. No fixed hours or total earnings are promised.

5. Recording and conduct requirements

Participants must follow all recording, safety, privacy, and quality instructions supplied during onboarding. Recordings must be original, accurate, made by the approved participant, and captured with the required compatible device and phone headband. Applicants and participants may not submit copied, misleading, manipulated, or impersonated work.

6. Recording rights and data use

Recordings may support AI training and related research. Applying through this website does not transfer ownership of a recording or grant Crossing Hurdles or another party a license to use one.

Before any recording is requested or submitted, the project-specific instructions or agreement must explain applicable ownership, licenses, permitted uses, retention, deletion, and participant rights. Do not submit recordings until those terms have been provided and accepted where required.

7. Quality review and project access

Recordings may be reviewed against project instructions before hours are approved. Work that does not meet authenticity, safety, recording, or quality requirements may be rejected. Project availability can change, and continued access is not guaranteed.

8. Other project terms

For USA Residential, the official Shift downloads and project-specific partner code are shown only after a successful application. Follow the current in-app instructions. Codes, applications, portals, or upload steps published for another opportunity do not apply to this project.
